What to do in Boracay

The biggest destination in the Philippines in terms of popularity is Boracay. The Island of Boracay is known for its soothing atmosphere and exotic unique culture. This tropical island is like no other. It is shaped like a large dog’s bone, it has a length of 7 kilometers and only 1 kilometer at its narrowest point. Hmmmm, you will even find many dogs on the island but that is another topic for another day. At the ends of Boracay Philippines are gently sloping hills meeting zmazing cliffs of striking stature. These cliffs are constantly battered by the ocean waves endlessly, it is between these cliffs that the sheltered coves and beaches are nestled, calling to visitors like a siren song to relax and enjoy them.

The Ati tribe initially called Boracay home as a part of the Aklan Province. It wasn’t until the 1970s that visitors were made aware of Boracay, due to the fact that it was a very well guarded secret. News of Boracay came to the world from a movie crew who accidently “revealed” the paradise. Some dispute this saying that ‘Jens Peters’ book that described Boracay as the ultimate place to go, that changed the original pace of a guarded secret to being “the” location to go to. In time it was voted the Best Beach in the World. Once the secret was out Boracay ceased to be exclusive to only those that knew of it. As it gained popularity with travelers, mostly through hikers, Boracay is now a international tourist’s destination.
